  • “… I can't actually believe it has been twenty years! I remember my first ever drama class with my brother and Charlie White just after Bugsy Malone, circa 92/93?! I was a bean on a piece of human shaped toast as part of my very first improvisation! It was at that moment that I realised l absolutely loved pretending to be something I wasn't and knew you'd be graced with my presence in drama for many years to come …” - Lucy McGonigle

  • “Wendy is a pioneering and truly inspirational artist. She has been one of the most important people in my life, always there with kind encouragement and unrivalled passion. You continue to amaze me with your talent and determination and always will.” - Cameron Cheek
  • "My very first foray into the theatre world came in 1996 when I played the part of the radio ventriloquist in Annie. Aged only 7, I had no idea that the theatre (and indeed Wendy) would prove to play such a huge part of my life ... She knows how to get the very best out of each and every young person, not just on the stage, but in their home life too. The confidence and social skills gained from Maltings Youth Theatre has helped to sculpt me into the person I am today..." - Daniel Cox
  • “I was lucky enough to spend several years in the Youth Theatre… The commitment Wendy has shown to the kids is evidently clear -- the fact that so many former members of YT have stayed in touch with her over years is testament to how much she is, and always will be, respected …I have no doubt she will have fundamentally enhanced and enriched the lives of the hundreds of teens who have come through the doors in the 20 years of its existence. I know mine has… - Emma Boyd
  • “My time working with Wendy was some of the best and memorable. Her shows were and are fantastic, she is an exceptionally talented woman who was the heartbeat of the theatre…” - Neil Watson
  • “Thursday nights were the highlight of my week when I was at YT. Many a friendship began in that Maltings basement, some of which remain with me now. The buzz backstage on a performance night is something I’ll never forget … When I started college and moved into halls of residence, I would make the four hour round bus journey between Ashington and Berwick each week so that I didn’t have to give YT up … thank you for all the good times and long may YT continue!” - Katy Luscombe
